BAGUIO CITY – After the suspension of the coding scheme for vehicles last Christmas break, Mayor Reinaldo Bautista, Jr. ordered another suspension on its implementation for all types of private vehicles within city streets.
Major events happening in the city is expected to draw hundreds of local and foreign tourists coming from various places.
This is in preparation for the Flower Festival Celebrations and the Philippine Military Academy Graduation Rites, Bautista said.
We need to afford them convenience and freedom of touring and exploring various tourists attractions of the city in the comfort of their personal vehicles, he said.
Vacationers are also expected to arrive due to the holiday break in observance of Holy Week and summer vacation.
Public Utility Vehicles which are rented or hired by visitors, tourists, vacationers and participants of conventions are also exempted from implementation of the coding scheme provided they have appropriate identification for the purpose.
Bautista, under certain conditions may suspend thru an Administrative Order the implementation of the number coding scheme based on Section 7 of City Ordinance Number 1, series of 2003.
The suspension is in effect February 1 to May 14, 2010.**Paul Rillorta
