Library month celebration
November is Library and Information Services (LIS) month and activities may be scheduled in consonance with the 2018 theme, “Ang Kulturang May Malasakit, Sa Aklatan ay Makakamit.”
This is contained in Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) memorandum circular 2018-180, dated October 23, 2018, and transmitted by city DILG officer Evelyn Trinidad.
Accordingly, LIS month is declared thru Presidential Proclamation 837, s. 1991.
The month-long celebration will help raise public awareness on the invaluable service that libraries and information centers provide, the memorandum states. This year, the celebration aims to highlight the important role of libraries and information centers in upholding Filipino culture and values.
Celebratory activities include the hanging of the 2018 LIS month official streamers, development, production and distribution of information, education and communication materials, and uploading of advocacy materials in the Local Government Unit website and social media accounts.
Photos, news, features, reports and other information as to the month-long celebration could also be uploaded to the National Commission on Culture and Arts (NCCA) through firstname.lastname@example.org.
Flag ceremonies could be also serve as venues for information dissemination about LIS; as well as forum for library-related activities: lecture, demonstrations, conferences, book drives and storytelling contests.
