Scholarship for deaf students, announced
The New Media Services (NMS)-Cares is announcing the opening of its scholarship program for the deaf under the Scholarship for the Education of Exceptional Deaf (SEED) Program for school year 2017-2018.
In a letter to Mayor Mauricio Domogan, NMS-Cares charity manager Virginia Gahid stated that her organization works closely with families of the deaf and partner schools to offer support to deserving deaf students.
It has also arranged for a scholarship grant to any school of preference by the applicant with permit to operate and able to provide quality education for young deaf students.
Willing students/parents can visit the NMS-Cares office at D304 3/F Lopez Building D, Corner Assumption, Session Road for application, interview or further inquiries.
Eligibility and requirements are as follows: Must be deaf or hard of hearing; entering or continuing high school or senior high level; certificate of indigence from barangay indicating annual household income; photocopy of birth certificate and PWD ID; photocopy of private school’s government permit or recognition; and 1 piece 2x2 picture (with background).
Scholarship details include: The qualified applying deaf student will be awarded with a maximum grant of P20,000 (twenty thousand pesos) covering only the full school tuition and other miscellaneous fees; the scholarship will be valid for one (1) school year only and the candidate has to re-apply again next year to avail of the scholarship.
