Baguio senior citizens celebrate elderly month in October with activities in accordance to the theme, “Kilalanin at Parangalan,: Tagapagsulong ng Karapatan ng Nakatatanda tungo sa Lipunang Mapagkalinga.”

October is proclaimed as elderly month through Republic Act 10868.

SEAG-bound arnis athletes to train Baguio

Dozens of arnis athletes who will be competing in next year’s Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) to be hosted by the country will be undergoing a 6-month rigid training in Baguio City, an official of the Philippine Eskrima, Kali and Arnis Association of the Philippines (PEKAP) said here recently.

Prostate cancer on the rise in PHL

A local group advocating for cancer awareness disclosed that men affected with prostate cancer is on the rise in the country, thus, the need for public awareness to ensure that individuals with the life-threatening ailment are provided the appropriate medical procedures for them to be cured and live a normal life.

Marivic Bugasto, a cancer awareness advocate and an official of the I Can Serve Foundation, revealed there are 8 men who are diagnosed with prostate cancer in the country daily which places the illness as one of the causes of morbidity among men.

Identification of high risk areas in barangays sought

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) is soliciting the utmost support and cooperation of barangay officials in the identification of high risk areas in the city’s 128 barangays so that concerned government agencies and the local government will be guided on the appropriate mitigating measures to be implemented to prevent life and properties from being exposed to danger.

RDC, RPOC adopts regional statistics program

The Cordillera Regional Development Council (RDC-CAR) and the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC-CAR) approved a joint resolution adopting the Regional Statistical Development Program (RDSP) 2017-2023.

The resolution stated members of the Regional Statistics Council (RSC) in the Cordillera passed Resolution O6, series of 2017 approving the 2017-2023 RSDP of the region during its third quarter RSC meeting held last August 29, 2017 and the enhanced CAR RSDP was approved on February 26, 2018.

NPOC urged to include Army as BPOC member

The Cordillera Regional Development Council (RDC-CAR) and the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC-CAR) passed a joint resolution requesting the National Peace and Order Council (NPOC) to amend the provisions of Executive Order (EO) No. 366, series of 1996 as amended by EO No. 773, series of 2009 defining the composition of the Barangay Peace and Order Committee (BPOC) to include the Philippine Army as one of the regular members.

Mayor commends HRAB for Largest Wedding Cake presentation

Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan expressed the gratitude of the local government to the private sector-led Hotel and Restaurant Association of Baguio (HRAB) and other tourism industry stakeholders for spearheading the presentation and serving of the Largest Wedding Cake at the SM City Baguio Atrium last Saturday where thousands of residents and visitors alike tasted assorted flavors of the cake.

JHMC lines up activities for 115th CJH anniversary

43 couples participate in mass wedding rites

Some forty three couples tied the knot during the mass wedding ceremonies sponsored by the local government as part of the activities for the celebration of Family Month last Saturday at the third floor of SM City Baguio.

The mass wedding ceremony organized by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) was done simultaneous with the presentation to the public of the Largest Wedding Cake by the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Baguio (HRAB), one of the major highlights of this year’s 14th annual Hotel and Restaurant Tourism (HRT) Weekend.

BIR urged to intensify tax campaign in city

The City Council passed a resolution requesting the Cordillera office of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR-CAR) to strengthen or intensify their information dissemination regarding the tax obligations of business owners and barangay officials to remind and protect business owners and barangay officials from being imposed possible fines and penalties due to alleged violations.
