Convention center repairs 'unacceptable'

BAGUIO City Administrator Boni Dela Peña said rehabilitation work at the Baguio Convention Center will not be approved by the City.

He revealed major glitches in work done on the convention center, saying during the Ms. Baguio pageant in September, the ceiling of the main hall was in danger of collapsing, forcing him to call the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for help.

Magsaysay vendors asks to remain in building

Eighteen vendors occupying the Magsaysay Building at the Baguio Public Market are asking the city government to postpone the implementation of the notice to vacate issued earlier due to the building’s dangerous and hazardous status.

In a dialogue with City Administrator Bonifacio dela Peña last Oct. 10, the vendors pleaded for them to continue operating their businesses while the city has yet to finalize its plan for the redevelopment of the market.

600 Runners to Join The North Face 100 Marathon

BAGUIO CITY – Some six hundred local and foreign runners are expected to join this year’s edition of The North Face 100 trail running event which will be held in Baguio City passing through the trails of Itogon and Tuba towns.

The annual trail running event has been divided into 4 categories, the 100-kilometer trail run, the 50-kilometer run, the 22-kilometer race and the 11-kilometer race.

BAGUIO CITY  – The city government is elated over the return of The North Face 100 marathon in the city because it will help boost the present administration’s agenda of having a revitalized tourism industry.

City Administrator Bonifacio dela Peña said that the return of one of the country’s prestigious trail running events, The North Face 100, is considered an added promotion of the city and its neighboring towns as one of the premier sports tourism events in the country.
