CITY LAUDS BAKUNA CENTERS, ISOLATION FACILITY IN COVID-19 FIGHT

11 April 2022 – The city government led by Mayor Benjamin Magalong and Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan awarded certificates of commendation to the four big sites or Baguio Bakuna Centers and an isolation facility that were instrumental in the Summer Capital’s fight against the ongoing coronavirus disease-2019 (Covid-19) pandemic during flag-raising rites, April 11, at City Hall.

The big sites are the University of Baguio gym, Saint Louis University gym (Bishop Carlito Cenzon Sports Center), SM City Baguio, and Baguio Country Club while the isolation facility was at Teacher’s Camp.

Assistant City Health Officer Dr. Celia Flor Brillantes said that while the Bakuna Centers at the UB and SLU venues  have ceased operations, those at SM City Baguio and Baguio Country Club continue to serve as big vaccination sites.

“Without these big sites, we (the city) could not have attained high at the fastest vaccination time and to as many people as possible,” she said.

Since the city government started the vaccination roll-out on Covid-19, Brillantes revealed that it has attained almost 105 percent vaccination rate for first dose; 99.88 percent, second dose; 39 percent for booster and 89.81 percent vaccination rate for 12 to 17 year-old children.

She added that the city’s Bakuna Centers were visited by the National Task Force against Covid-19  Vaccine Cluster.

As to the isolation facility at Teacher’s Camp, Brillantes said its management “did not falter in supporting the city’s isolation strategy during the height of our Covid cases and successfully fulfilled their commitment.”

For his part, the Mayor said that management of the four big sites and isolation facility “have distinguished themselves through dedicated selfless service, extraordinary efforts and exceptional contributions in ensuring that the city of Baguio remains safe during the pandemic.”-Gaby B. Keith
