7 July 2022 – Baguio City marked the Filipino-American Friendship on July 4 with a cowboy-themed program and chili cook fest at the Bell Ampitheater at Camp John Hay.

The four-part program was graced by US Embassy to the Philippines Deputy Consul General James Fellows who delivered the keynote address.

Fellows, in his speech, expressed wishes that the two nations continue to remember "what unites us as friends, partners and allies."

He said Baguio City has remained to be a favorite destination among American residents.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong, Rep. Marquez Go and John Hay Management Corporation President and Chief and Executive Officer Allan Garcia also expressed well wishes for the furtherance of Fil-Am friendship and cooperation which they said had been a part of the city's history and present day pursuits.

One feature of the program was the recognition of cottage attendant Ponciano Delos Reyes for dedication and service as employee of Camp John Hay for almost 40 years.

The program was capped by another highlight, the Chili Cook-off contest where participants whipped up chili dishes with a twist of Cordillera taste. - Neil Ongchangco/Aileen Refuerzo
