CITY FINALIZING SETTLEMENT OF ASIN HYDRO ISSUES

22 June 2022 – The local government is finalizing the necessary settlement of various issues and concerns besetting the city-owned Asin minihydro power plants to ensure that it will not encounter problems once it offers the said plants to private companies interested to rehabilitate, upgrade and improve the existing facilities.

City Administrator Bonifacio dela Pena stated that the city has no problem on the ownership of Plant No. 2 because of a previous court ruling that the local government owns the said property where the said plant has been established.

CITY RENEWS PERMITS OF 53 NEWSSTAND VENDORS, WATCH REPAIR, LOCKSMITH SHOPS

21 June 2022 – The City Planning and Development Office and the City Permits and Licensing Division of the city Mayor’s Office do not interpose any objection to the passage of Resolution No. 242, series of 2022 extending the validity of the agreement entered into by the Permits and Licensing Division (PLD) of the City Mayor’s Office and the newspaper stand vendors and watch repair proprietors from July to December 2022 or until such time that the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) has come up with concrete plans and arrangements for their relocation.

BAGUIO IPs TO HOLD GENERAL ASSEMBLY ON JULY 5

21 June 2022 – Members of indigenous cultural communities and indigenous peoples (ICCs-IPs) in the city will be holding a general assembly on July 5, 2022 purposely to re-formulate the local guidelines in the selection of the city’s Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) and the identification of the selectors and nominees for the said post.

COUNCIL AMENDS ANTI-TRUANCY ORDINANCE

21 June 2022 – The City Council, during last Monday’s regular session, approved on first reading a proposed ordinance amending Ordinance No. 119, series of 2018 which prohibits truancy in the city.

TOURISM DEVELOPMENT GUIDELINES IN CITY EYED

24 June 2022 – The City Council, during last Monday’s regular session, approved on first reading a proposed ordinance amending Ordinance No. 61, series of 2009 otherwise known as the Revised Tourism Code of Baguio City by including provisions for tourism development guidelines.

2013 PUBLIC UTILITIES ORDINANCE COMPLIED WITH

24 June 2022 – A city ordinance penned in 2013 for the establishment of public utilities monitoring program for government offices, for the realization of at least ten (10) percent savings, is implemented.

This was the result of the assessment done by members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod legislative monitoring and evaluation group, after collation of the responses received from concerned offices.

INTENSIFIED WAR WAGED AGAINST DENGUE

23 June 2022 – Following reports of increased number of Dengue cases in the city, surrounding areas and the whole region, the city embarked on several Thursday mornings intensified house-to-house search and destroy activity.

The activity dubbed as Denguerra kicked off at city hall last Thursday (June 23), and was actively participated in by city and barangay officials, city employees, business, religious and academic communities, non-government organizations, volunteers and private individuals.

MUSICAL SUNDAY AT SESSION ROAD

22 June 2022 – Fete de la Musique PH goes to Baguio’s Session Road this Sunday, June 26 with 17 performers.

Alongside Sunday Market Showcase at Session Road which will begin 7AM, the public will be treated with free musical performances beginning 1PM.

SC CHIEF JUSTICE GESMUNDO LEADS BAGUIO CITY JUSTICE ZONE LAUNCHING

24 June 2022 – Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo, Department of Justice Sec. Menardo Guevarra, Department of the Interior and Local Government Sec. Eduardo Año and Mayor Benjamin Magalong led in the launching of the Baguio City Justice Zone (BCJZ), June 24, at the Baguio Convention Center.

The BCJZ is the ninth to the launched in the country and first in the Cordillera Administrative Region after those in the cities of Quezon, Cebu, Davao, Angeles, Bacolod, Naga, Calamba and Balanga.

CITY’s ANTI-TRUANCY MEASURE FOUND NOT FULLY IMPLEMENTED

23 June 2022 – The city government’s implementation of ordinance no. 119, series of 2018, entitled, “Prohibiting Truancy in the City of Baguio”, has not been fully implemented according to a status report submitted to Vice-Mayor Faustino Olowan on June 1.
