BAGUIO’s TOURISM CARRYING CAPACITY STILL MANAGEABLE – WWRRDEC

12 August 2022 – The Summer Capital’s tourism carrying capacity threshold has not yet been exceeded based on a recent study conducted by the Watershed and Water Resources Research Development Extension Center (WWRRDEC) under the Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

COUNCIL WANTS UPDATED REPORT ON COVID-19 FUNDS

11 August 2022 – City officials requested the City Health Services Office (CHSO) to submit within two weeks upon receipt an updated report to the local legislative body on the utilization of the COVID-19 supplemental budget amounting to P94.2 million under Ordinance No. 92, series of 2021, current COVID-19 operations in the city and planned strategies to address the rapid spread of the virus.

OPERATIONALIZATION OF FREEDOM OF INFORMATION IN CITY LIKELY

9 August 2022 – The City Council, during last Monday’s regular session, approved on first reading a proposed ordinance operationalizing freedom of information in the local government and providing guidelines for the implementation of the same.

The ordinance authored by Councilor Benny Bomogao stated that the measure shall cover all offices under the local government.

APOSTILLE SERVICES FOR DFA BAGUIO CONSULAR OFFICE SOUGHT

10 August 2022 – City officials requested the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to authorize its Baguio consular office to render apostille services.

Under Resolution No. 299, series of 2022, local legislators stated that residents of the city and the Cordillera region come to DFA-Baguio consular office for passporting and other consular services.

ALTERNATIVE MODE OF ONLINE PAYMENT OF TAXES EYED

10 August 2022 – Local legislators authorized the local chief executive to negotiate and enter into an agreement with the Globe Telecom and any other equally qualified online payment service provider for the adoption of additional or alternative mode of payment of taxes, fees and charges due to the local government subject to confirmation by the city council.

HIKE IN REWARD FOR TIPSTERS EYED

9 August 2022 – The City Council, during last Monday’s regular session approved on first reading a proposed ordinance seeking to amend Section 2 of Ordinance No. 029, series of 1996 as amended by Ordinance No. 15, series of 2014 increasing the reward for tipsters.

CREATION OF URBAN POOR OFFICE SOUGHT

9 August 2022 – The City Council, during last Monday’s regular session, approved on first reading a proposed ordinance creating the Baguio City Urban Poor Affairs office and appropriating funds for the said purpose.

The ordinance authored by Councilor Leandro Yangot, Jr. stated that the said office shall be composed of the administrative and planning division, legal division, engineering division and community organizing division.

9 August 2022 – The City Council, during last Monday’s regular session, approved on first reading a proposed ordinance institutionalizing the Clean-as-you-go practice in all food serving establishments in the city and providing penalties for violation of the said measure.

BAGUIO COUNCIL TO MEDIATE BENECO ROW TO SETTLE OUTSTANDING OBLIGATIONS

9 August 2022 – The City Council, during last Monday’s regular session, tasked the Committee on Public Utilities, traffic and Transport Legislation to mediate the feuding camps of the Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO) for the possible settlement of the electric cooperative, especially with its power supplier and the National Grid Corporation (NGCP), to prevent its power supply from being cut off leading to blackouts within its franchise area.
