TARIFF RATE FOR HOUSEHOLDS CONNECTED TO STP PROPOSED

03 October 2022 – The city government wants to establish a tariff rate that will only consider the households connected with the Baguio Sewage Treatment Plant (BSTP) instead of applying a uniform tariff rate to all households to allow the repayment of the said loan within a 20-year period after its proposed upgrading through a loan of $62.4 million or P3.7 billion loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB)

OCTOBER 5 AS TEACHERS DAY IN BAGUIO PROPOSED

28 September 2022 – Councilor Jose Molintas authored an ordinance seeking the declaration of every October 5 as Teachers' Day in the city.

Under the proposed ordinance, it shall be the policy of the local government to recognize the role of teachers for their sincere dedication and commitment in nurturing and educating the children, youth, and adults.

The ordinance also seeks to declare every October 5 to be a special non-working Teachers' Day in the city.

OUTSTANDING TEACHER’s AWARD TO BE INSTITUTIONALIZED

03 October 2022 – Councilor Arthur Allad-iw authored an ordinance institutionalizing the Outstanding Teachers’ Awards in the city every Teachers Month celebration.

Under the proposed ordinance, it shall be the policy of the city government to adopt the principles instituted in the declaration of the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Presidential Proclamation NO. 242, Republic Act (RA) 10743, and other regulations.

DOG SHOW FOR ALL BREEDS TO BE HELD IN BAGUIO

28 September 2022 – City officials approved the request of retired Police Col. Arnold M. Palomo, president, Baguio-Benguet K9 Sports Club, for the use of Malcolm Square or Peoples Park for a Dog Show to be participated by all breeds to compete by categories on the second week of November 2022 subject to conditions.

IVADOY GROUP GRANTED P500K AID FOR FESTIVAL

01 October 2022 – City officials approved the request of the Onjon ni Ivadoy Association, Inc. for the appropriation in the amount of P500,000 for the celebration of Ibaloi festival in October 2022 in synchronization with the Indigenous Peoples month in the city subject to availability of funds.

Under Resolution No. 438, series of 2022, local legislators stated that the earlier amount of P200,000 for the celebration of the International Indigenous Peoples month which was supposedly celebrated last August 2022 in the city shall be one of the sources for the aforesaid celebration.

BAGUIO TO IMPLEMENT TWO WRIGHT PARK PROJECTS

01 October 2022 – City officials authorized the local chief executive to enter into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Department of Public works and Highways (DPWH) for the implementation of two Wright Park projects funded under fiscal year 2022.

Under Resolution No. 428, series of 2022, local legislators stated that the MOA that will be forged by the city and the DPWH shall be submitted to the city council for confirmation.

242 PWUDs IN DRUG PROGRAM - CSWDO

28 September 2022 – A total of 242 persons who use drugs (PWUDs) are currently enrolled in the Integrated Participatory Community Building Program (IPCBP) under the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) headed by Liza Bulayungan.

This was disclosed by CSWDO officer III Ellen Dayag during the 3rd Quarter City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC), Sept. 27, held virtually via zoom and presided over by Mayor Benjamin Magalong, CADAC chair.

She said, however, that 66 of the PWUDs enrolled in the IPCBP conducted in collaboration with faith-based groups are inactive.

DRUG VIOLATIONS TOP CRIMES COMMITTED BY MALE PDLs

01 October 2022 – Violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 continues to be the top crime committed by persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the Baguio City Jail-Male Dorm (BCJ-MD) as of September 23 this year.

This was reported by Jail Supt. Mary Ann Ollaging-Tresmanio during the 3rd Quarter City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC), Sept. 27, held virtually via zoom and presided by Mayor Benjamin Magalong, CADAC chair.

CITY APPROVES ACCREDITATION APPLICATIONS OF MORE ORGANIZATIONS

01 October 2022 - Mayor Benjamin Magalong signed several city council measures approving the accreditations of various organizations in response to the Summer Capital's Notice of Call for Accreditation.

Resolution nos. 411, 412, and 413, all series of 2002, approves the accreditations of Lifeline Counseling Center, Pro-Life Baguio; Child and Family Service Philippines, Inc. (CFSPI); and Rehabilitation Action for Baguio, Inc..

CITY APPROVES MINES VIEW BARANGAY LIVELIHOOD FAIR

28 September 2022 – Mayor Benjamin Magalong ratified city council resolution no. 409, series of 2022, approving the request of Mines View Park barangay for the extension of the conduct of its Tourism Market Encounter from July 2022 to December 2022, subject to conditions.

The adopted measure states that the local legislature adopted resolution nos. 173 and 23, both series of 2022, and no. 639, series of 2021, in relation to the conduct of the livelihood fair at Mines View barangay.
