CITY PROSECUTOR’s OFFICE FILES 839 CRIMINAL CASES IN SIX MONTHS

10 August 2022 – A total of 839 criminal cases were filed in court by the City Prosecutor’s Office for the first half of this year (January to June) after the conduct of preliminary investigations.

During the flag-raising rites at City Hall, August 8, prosecutor Bernard Allan Angeles said 265 inquest cases were also filed during the same period with no pending complaints for resolution upon the close of June this year.

LAND USE PLAN UPDATING ON

The city government through the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) is pursuing the updating of the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) which charts the city’s physical and economic development for the next ten years and the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) which serves as the implementing instrument of the CLUP.

 

BAGUIO CITY ACCEPTING OFFERS FOR SMART MOBILITY SYSTEM, TRIPLE A ABATTOIR PROJECT

5 August 2022 - Mayor Benjamin Magalong has announced that the city government is calling for unsolicited proposals for two of its catalytic projects – the smart mobility and transportation system and the triple A slaughterhouse project.

Period of submission will be from August 5 to September  5, 2022.

The smart mobility and transportation system aims to modernize the city’s public transportation system and provide a long-term solution to the city’s perennial traffic problem.

CITY COMMENDS DEPED ‘EDTECH AWARDS’ WINNER, TEAM

1 August 2022 – Mayor Benjamin Magalong signed city council resolution no. 289, series of 2022, congratulating and commending Frank Lloyd De Guzman of the Schools Division of Baguio for winning Most Outstanding Teacher-Broadcaster for Physical Education for DEPED TV during the recently conducted Department of Education “EdTech Awards” held from on June 21 to 23, this year, at Teachers Camp.

The measure also congratulates and commends De Guzman’s team:  Jonjon Bulaon, Jeffrey Jay Bagasol, Andy Villamor, Christine Falag-ey, John Dee Cayso and Elijah Calara.

CITY GRANTS FAVORABLE REVIEWS TO SEVERAL BARANGAY, SK BUDGETS

1 August 2022 – Mayor Benjamin Magalong ratified separate city council resolutions granting favorable reviews to the budgets of several barangays and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) barangay in the Summer Capital for fiscal year 2022.

Resolution no. 296, series of 2022, states that the City Budget Officer forwarded to the City Council the preliminary reviewed budgets of the following barangays: Military Cut-Off; Loakan-Apugan; Bakakeng Norte/Sur; Bayan Park Village; Pinget; Upper General Luna; Camp 8; San Antonio Village; and Atok Trail.

CRACKDOWN VS. DECEITFUL MARKETING PLOYS TO CONTINUE

1 August 2022 –  The city will continue its crackdown against sellers engaged in deceptive marketing ploys to entice customers and earn more profit.

City Permits and Licensing Officer Allan Abayao said operations will be sustained by the team composed of his office, the Public Order and Safety Division, both under the office of Mayor Benjamin Magalong and the Market Division under the City Treasury Office.

MAYOR LEADS WATER SUPERVISORY BODIES

1 August 2022 –  Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong will chair two water supervisory bodies in the city – the City Water Resources Board (CWRB) and the City Water Governance Council (CWGC).

The mayor issued Executive Order No. 79, series of 2022 constituting the creation of the CWRB and the CWGC in accordance to City Ordinance No. 18-2016 otherwise known as the Environmental Code of Baguio City.

CITY CONDOLES WITH FAMILIES OF LATE BARANGAY OFFICIALS

1 August 2022 – Mayor Benjamin Magalong ratified separate city council resolutions expressing the city government and its constituents’ condolences on the recent passing of two barangay officials of the Summer Capital.

Resolution no. 288, series of 2022, expresses the deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences of the city’s officialdom and constituency to the bereaved family of Teresita Salero Lingayo, former punong barangay and barangay kagawad of Gabriela Silang who died on July 13 at the age of 90.

CVAO SPAYS AND NEUTERS MORE THAN A THOUSAND DOGS, CATS SINCE JANUARY

1 August 2022 – The City Veterinary and Agriculture Office (CVAO) under Dr. Silardo Bested has neutered and spayed a total of 1,602 dogs and cats in the Summer Capital from January to July this year.

Veterinarian III Dr. Gladys Bantog said the vast majority of animals, around 80 percent, that underwent the procedure during the seven-month period were cats.

She added that a minimal fee Php1,000 for males and Php1,500 for females are charged for each spaying and neutering operation conducted every Friday at the CVAO, Slaughterhouse Compound, Sto. Nino barangay.

BAGUIO GEARS FOR SUSTAINABLE ENTREPRENEURSHIP

1 August 2022 –  The city government of Baguio is gearing towards sustainable entrepreneurship as part of the multi-pronged approaches in addressing ‘urban decay’ concerns aside from traffic, pollution and water shortage problems among others.

The city government through the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) will be conducting a “Green Business Exposition” scheduled on September 1-30, 2022 at Burnham Park as part of the 2nd Saleng/Pine Tree Festival.
