P. BURGOS SEWERLINE PROJECT HITS SNAG

16 September 2022 - The City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) has called out the contractor undertaking the office’s sewerline construction project at P. Burgos barangay for failing to comply with its contractual obligations resulting to the project’s slow progress.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong who inspected the project last week expressed displeasure over the status of the project which according to him, aside from being delayed, is also untidy, disorderly and unsafe.

BURNHAM LAKE WATER SAFE FOR FISH

16 September 2022 - City Environment and Parks Management Officer Rhenan Diwas said results of water tests done at Burnham Park Lake have proven that it is safe for rearing fish.

Diwas said a water sampling was done at the lake before the dispersal of a fresh batch of fingerlings last Sept. 14, 2022 in line with the Dept. of Agriculture’s celebration of the 59th Fish Conservation Week observed from September 12-16, 2022.

CRAFTING OF METRO BLISTT DEV’T AUTHORITY ON

16 September 2022 – The crafting of the rules to implement Republic Act 11932 or “An Act Creating the Metropolitan Baguio City, La Trinidad, Itogon, Sablan, Tuba, Tublay Development Authority (MBLISTTDA)…” has commenced.

The Technical Working Group created to draw up the IRR and chaired by Vice Governor Ericson Felipe held its first meeting last August 31.

PALENG-QR CASHLESS PROGRAM BEGINS RUN IN BAGUIO MARKET

16 September 2022 – The Paleng-QR Ph cashless payment program has begun its run at the city market.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong said offline cash transactions at the city market started this month using top financial service providers (FSP) Gcash and Maya.

Cashless online transactions like Online Marketplace and delivery will be handled by Unionbank with target launching date in October.

Landbank online meanwhile will take charge of the e-gov cashless online transactions targeted for the end of September.

MORE GROUPS PLANT TREES TO END PLANTING SEASON

16 September 2022 –  More organizations offered helping hands in planting 5,220 more trees for the environment as planting season ends this month.

Eight groups; Teachers Camp residents, Baguio City National High School (BCNHS) batch ’84, Baguio Chapter of the Baguio Dental Association, Malcolm Square and Gabriela Silang barangays, Business Processing Giant Concentrix, a conglomeration of Knights of Columbus/Bike Scout/Kabalikat Civicom/755 Kafagway base, and Electronic Engineers of The Philippines - CAR chapter started planting on Aug. 30.

CSWDO, BCPO SEND HOME BADJAOS

15 September 2022 – Fifteen adult and two minor Badjaos were rounded up last Tuesday (Sept. 13) by personnel of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) and City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and sent home to Angeles, Pampanga after finding them begging along city streets.

The CSWDO provided cash assistance intended as transportation expenses for the 17 individuals and sent them home through public transport.

CITY TO ACQUIRE $62.4 MILLION FOR SEWERAGE UPGRADE

16 September 2022 – The local government will be acquiring From the Asian Development Bank (ADB) some $62.4 million which is equivalent to more than P3.7 billion for the proposed 5-year rehabilitation of the old Baguio sewerage treatment plant.

City Budget Officer lawyer Leticia O. Clemente stated that the Baguio Resilient City Tourism Project (BRCTP) will be implemented in partnership with the ADB, the State-owned Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), the Department of Tourism (Dot) and the local government.

CITY LINES UP ACTIVITIES FOR CIVIL SERVICE MONTH

16 September 2022 –  The local government has lined up a month-long activity to celebrate the 122nd anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service this month.

The city’s celebration of the Philippine Civil Service month was launched during the regular flag raising ceremony held at the city hall grounds.

CITY COMMENDS BACK TO BACK CHAMPION

16 September 2022 –  The City Council, during last Monday’s regular session, congratulated and commended Ms. Liza Pasiwen Docyogen for being the back-to-back and overall champion during the MCFIT classic 2022 held in Pasig city last August 20, 2022.

In a resolution, local legislators stated that Ms. Docyogen’s achievement has brought pride and glory to the community of fitness and bodybuilding enthusiasts and to the city as a whole.

CITY COMMENDS BAGUIO AIRSOFT CLUB

16 September 2022 –  The City Council, during last Monday’s regular session, congratulated and commended the Baguio Airsoft Club (BAC) for emerging as the team champion and its members who also emerged as individual champions in the recently concluded 1st Team idol  Shoot 2022 Level 2 Philippine Shooters Officers Confederation sanctioned airsoft sports classifier match held on September 4, 2022 at Legaspi Village, Makati City.
