CITY INTENSIFIES INSPECTION OF PROJECT SITES TO ENSURE SAFETY, CLEANLINESS

22 September 2022 – The city government will intensify its inspection of infrastructure project sites to ensure that contractors keep their worksites safe and clean.

Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong tasked City Administrator Bonifacio Dela Pena to lead the inspectorate team and ensure that implementation of numerous public works are of quality standard pursuant to project specifications including compliance to safety standards and cleanliness.

THREE MORE MARKET EMPLOYEES CHARGED WITH MALVERSATION OVER ‘KWARTAIS’

25 September 2022 – Three more employees of the city government assigned at the City Market as collectors of arrival fees or ‘kwartais’ were charged with malversation with falsification of public documents and falsification by public officers.

Three other employees who were sued earlier were again included in the latest suit for additional counts of malversation and falsification of public documents.

6TH PLACER IN PENOLOGY EXAMINATION LAUDED

22 September 2022 – The City Council, during last Monday’s regular session, approved a resolution commending and congratulating Jobert  Doctolero for placing 6th during the penology officers examination last April 24, 2022.

In a resolution, local legislators stated that Doctolero, who hails from barangay Pucsusan, a graduate of the course Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management at the Baguio Central University, garnered 6th place in the penology officers examination.

CITY COMMENDS NO. 2 PLACER IN ENGINEERING EXAMINATION

27 September 2022 – The City Council, during last Monday’s regular session, approved a resolution commending and congratulating Engr. King Joshua Duldulao Arzadon of the Catholic-run St. Louis University (SLU) for placing No. 2 with a final average of 90.95 percent during the September 2-3, 2011 electrical engineering licensure examination.

In a resolution, local legislators stated that the feat of Engr. Arzadon shows and continues to uphold the city’s title as the education center of the north where it molds students into licensed professionals with flying colors.

BAGUIO ATHLETES, COACHES COMMENDED ANEW

27 September 2022 – The City Council, during last Monday’s regular session, commended and congratulated the Baguio-based athletes and coaches who represented the country during the 7th Association of Southeast Asian nations (ASEAN) junior U20 Kurash championship held last September 4-8, 2022 at Chonburi, Thailand.

BAGUIO TO BE DECLARED AS A CHARACTER CITY

27 September 2022 – The City Council, during last Monday’s regular session, approved on first reading a proposed ordinance declaring Baguio as a Character City and adopting its character City programs.

The ordinance authored by Councilor Isabelo Cosalan, Jr. stated that it shall be a policy of the local government to adopt a character-based approach in governance where each and   every citizen, community leaders, government officials and employees, are models or exemplars of good character.

BRANDING SYSTEM FOR BAGUIO PRODUCTS PROPOSED

21 September 2022 – The City Council, during last Monday's regular session, approved on first reading a proposed ordinance creating a branding system to raise the quality, standards and marketability of Baguio-made products.

CAPACITY OF BAGUIO SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT TO INCREASE BY 40 PERCENT

24 September 2022 – The city’s Local Finance Committee (LFC) reported that the multi-billion Baguio Resilient City Tourism Project (BRCTP) will translate to approximately forty percent increase in the prevailing treatment capacity of the Baguio sewage treatment plant after the completion of the 5-year project.

COUNCIL WANTS EXECUTIVE ORDER ON FACE MASK POLICY IN CITY

24 September 2022 - City officials requested the local chief executive to issue an appropriate order on the uniform implementation of the pertinent provisions of Executive Order (EO) No. 03, series of 2022 issued by former President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. on the voluntary wearing of face masks by the people outdoors.

BAGUIO COUNCIL BACKS CALL TO STOP VEGETABLE SMUGGLING

25 September 2022 – City officials supported the pastoral message of Catholic Bishop Victor Bendico of the Diocese of Baguio on the call to save farmers and to stop smuggling of vegetables that greatly hurt local farmers in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), especially the vegetable producing province of Benguet and some parts of Mountain Province and Ifugao.
