CEO ASSURES SAFETY, INTEGRITY OF IRISAN ECOPARK RETAINING WALL

10 August 2022 – The Irisan Ecopark retaining wall is safe and stable even after the 7.0 magnitude Abra earthquake that jolted North Luzon on July 27, 2022 with hundreds of aftershocks thereafter.

Safety and integrity of the structure was assured by Engr. Richard Lardizabal, chief of the City Engineering Office – Maintenance Division after his team conducted a rapid assessment of the Irisan Ecopark retaining wall on August 4, 2022.

Based on the rapid assessment, Lardizabal said there were visible hairline plaster cracks but “no major cracks and damages observed.”

CITY COMMENDS HONEST CITIZENS

10 August 2022 – Honesty is the best policy.

The city council approved three resolutions individually commending Baguio citizens for their exemplary act of honesty, uprightness and integrity.

Resolution No. 302, series of 2022, commends Mr. Tirso A. Francisco, a resident of Dr. Carino Street, GEFA Lower QM Barangay. On March 12, he boarded a UV express service bound to Pangasinan and found a cellular phone inside the vehicle.

BAGUIO HOLDS CONSULTATION WITH AGRI STAKEHOLDERS

12 August 2022 – Mayor Benjamin Magalong expressed the city government’s all out support for the Summer Capital’ agriculture sector during a consultation with its various groups and other stakeholders, August 12, at the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO). building spearheaded by the City Veterinary and Agriculture Office (CVAO) under Dr. Silardo Bested.

CADAC CONDUCTS ANTI-DRUG ABUSE POSTER MAKING CONTEST

11 August 2022 – As part of the city’s observance of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking of Drugs held last June, the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) through the Special Services Division (SSD)-City Mayor’s Office has conducted a Poster Making Contest with the theme, ‘Addressing the Drug Challenges in Health and Humanitarian Crises’.

The CADAC is chaired by Mayor Benjamin Magalong with the SDD staff as secretariat.

CITY ASKS FOR APOSTILLE SERVICES AT DFA-BAGUIO

11 August 2022 – The city council adopted resolution no. 299, series of 2022, requesting the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to authorize DFA-Baguio consular office to render Apostille services.

Authored by councilor Betty Lourdes Tabanda, the measure states that an Apostille is a certificate that authenticates the origin of a public document issued by a country that is party to the Apostille Convention to be used in another country which is also a party to the Convention.

CITY COMMENDS UC FOR BEING TOP PERFORMING SCHOOL IN 2022 CRIMINOLOGY EXAMS

10 August 2022 – The local legislature adopted resolution no. 305, series of 2022, congratulating and commending the University of the Cordilleras (UC) for ranking first place among the country’s top performing schools garnering 94.37 percent overall passing rate in the June 2022 Criminologist Licensure Examination.

The approved measure states that the results revealed that 12,698 out of 41,913 passed the examination conducted by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) in various places in the country.

CITY HAILS VICTORIOUS BAGUIO-BASED TAEKWONDO AND ARNIS ATHLETES, COACHES

10 August 2022 – The city council passed separate resolutions congratulating and commending Baguio-based athletes and their coaches for their sterling achievements in various national and international sporting events that brought pride, honor and glory to the Summer Capital.

Resolution No. 308, series of 2022, congratulates and commends these athletes for bringing home pride, glory and honor by emerging victorious in the 7th Asian Taekwondo Poomsae Championships and the 2022 Chuncheon Korea Open International Taekwondo Championships in South Korea.

CITY's COVID VACCINE SUPPLY UP TO OVER 90,000 DOSES

10 August 2022 – The Summer Capital's total supply of Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines ballooned to 90,735 doses as of August 8 as compared to 78,736 on July 26 according to City Health Services Office (CHSO) head Dr. Rowena Galpo.

During the regular management committee meeting of local officials led by city administrator Bonifacio Dela Pena at City Hall, August 9, she said that of the total, the city has 33,072 doses of Pfizer for 12 years old and above and 27,970 of Astra Zeneca vaccines.

RESIDENTS URGED TO FOLLOW MPHS, GET BOOSTER SHOTS DESPITE CITY’s ‘LOW RISK’ COVID STATUS

10 August 2022 – The city’s top health official is reminding residents to continue adhering to minimum public health standards and not be lulled into complacency with the Summer Capital’s prevailing ‘low risk’ status in terms of Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases.

During the regular management committee meeting of local officials at City Hall, August 9, City Health Services Office (CHSO) head Dr. Rowena Galpo said the pandemic is still around hatching new sub-variants the latest of which is the BA.2.75 or ‘Centaurus’ Omicron sub-variant.

CITY PROSECUTOR’s OFFICE FILES 839 CRIMINAL CASES IN SIX MONTHS

10 August 2022 – A total of 839 criminal cases were filed in court by the City Prosecutor’s Office for the first half of this year (January to June) after the conduct of preliminary investigations.

During the flag-raising rites at City Hall, August 8, prosecutor Bernard Allan Angeles said 265 inquest cases were also filed during the same period with no pending complaints for resolution upon the close of June this year.
